Lytro have announced the first incarnation of the light Field camera.
Interesting looking bit of kit I think, and it certainly seems to tick the right boxes for what is my perseption of its target market - facebookers tweeters and generally people who don't ever print images... the snap shot consumer!
Looks nice and small, very simple to use by the look of the specs ... It obvious that this is not meant to replace traditional cameras, just offer what appears to be a fun alternative!
Whether or not i would find a use for regularly or not I'm not sure, but i'd certainly like to have a play with one!
There seems to be a lot of chat about the "resolution" around the internet ... This seems a bit daft to me ... It doesn't seem to be meant to produce printable images! The interactive box on the demo images seem to be as big as 500px square ... which I suppose is big enough to show an image on a website!
"A bit of fun" is my conclusion really ...
Specs
8x optical zoom
f/2 lens
8/16gb internal memory for 350/750 images
1.46" touch screen display .. this thing is tiny!
There is still a lot of confusion for me ...
If i were to get one how would I show the pictures on the forum?
What constitutes a "HD Image"... 720px height? it should be ... it thats what they are saying, but i cant find any demos bigger than 500px square ....
Anyway
Lots of pics to play with here https://www.lytro.com/living-pictures/291
