For our honeymoon Annie and I went on a cruise to the "Mexican Riviera," with stops in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. I took this shot in Mazatlan with my Mamiya-Sekor 500 DTL and Kodak film.

I wonder what that street looks like today? I wonder where those people are?

I was just about to say that this picture looks just like it was shot in the '70s when I noticed that it was!! What a great street scene. Is the lady on the left hiding from the cameras or just looking down? And I love the 3 wheeler and the beetle peaking out on the right. As you say, I wonder what it's like now?

There are still Beetles galore in Mexico, Pete. I believe VW had a factory that assembled them there. That 3-wheeler's interesting, though. Thanks Pete.

Is the Three wheeler a tuk tuk? An interesting photo Brian why is only half the street wet?

Is the Three wheeler a tuk tuk?
Don't know the enswer to that, Kev.

why is only half the street wet?
Don't know the enswer to that either, Kev. Although, when we were on that trip a hurricane was approaching. We were gone by the time it reached the Mazatlan area a couple of days later but I am wondering now if there had been some precipitation that was just drying up on the street when I took this shot.

Here's how the same view looks today Brian

I did a little detective work based on some of the Farmacia names, then virtually drove around using Google Street View.

The building on the right corner has undergone some changes, but when you zoom in, the structure is all the same.

Here's the street address so you can have a play yourself:

Aquiles Serdán 1609, Centro, Mazatlan, SIN, Mexico

Amazing thing the InterWebs :)

Excellent Chris. And they are still trying to cross that road I see!! :)

Isn't that bizarre - same positions almost, one person in the street, and the rest on the sidewalk with a child walking towards camera... Spooky in fact!

Looks like they've erected a commemorative marker at the point where Brian took the shot - not sure why it has the number 3 on it - was this the third shot on the roll perhaps? ;)

Scene of crime markers I heard. They're from the famous liquor store hold-up of '77. Apparently some Gringo robbed a few liquor stores after having a bad time at the local races. Vigilantes still hang about on street corners in case he turns up again. He was wearing a very distinctive hat apparently! :)

Chris, your a genius sometimes!
I was reading down the thread thinking that i would love to know what it looked like today ... hey presto ...
Google is ace!
