Meet Rense Haveman

Interesting, and a fine portrait. Have you edited it at all?

Glancing between this and your avatar, there does seem to be a familial resemblance.

Yes, I did quite some editing, because the copy my mom has is dark, and grey. Only mid-midtones, no real B&W. And there are some damages, scratches and punctures which had to be repaired....

And the resemblance must be the staring eyes...:D:D:D

Thanks, Dave!

Sorry, another one, collected today at an aunt of my dad. This woman was married to the guy in the first photo, her name was Jitske Smit. The photo is made around 1896. It's very large, about 30x40 cm, and the original is on a kind of fairly rough paper. This gives the photo the appearance of a charcoal sketch. Never seen something like this, don't know anything about the process and/or technique of making it

It's one of a pair, the other one is from her husband, and he is older than in the first photo. Lightroom crashed though, so posting that one has to wait....:confused::oops:o_O
