Merrills Eat Batteries.

Them pesky Merrills are battery hungry and the official Sigma ones are a tad expensive. I bought some last week off a firm called PowershopUK.com at £4.93 each including p and p.

They are a perfect fit and seem to last just as long as the originals.

Put "UKPS10" into the voucher box to get this price.

(No connection with firm, just a dogged determination to never buy overpriced OEM batteries.)

Cheers, Pat. If I had one Merrill, that would be a great option. However, having three, that's six batteries' worth. Should be enough. Good tip, though.

How are you finding the Merrill?

I have had no problem with generic batteries myself. So yes a good idea Pat. Yet as Rob say's I now have three Merrill's, so therefore 6 batteries from Sigma with the Four generic ones that is ten, so I have left two sigma ones in the box until needed. I hope leaving them, they will not deteriorate to much

Love 'em Rob....in the right conditions.

We have just returned from Brittany and the brightness of the sun made composing difficult at times. But crikey, when you stop and think what you are doing, hold them tight or mount them on a Joby or a tripod, you are rewarded with something that shows details and things that your Mk1 eyeball didn't see.

They are slow, they are clunky and thank God the French have a longish lunch as processing is "relaxed" but they are captivating. I even like the much derided SPP.

I have the 2 and the 3 and have contemplated getting a full house before stocks run out but a friend of mine has the 1 and it does seem a bit soft at the edges compared to the others.

I only bought the batteries to see how they were and thus far they have been excellent.

Held a Quattro last week. Not impressed with the ergonomics or the price tag. It is weird with a capital F and think that the little Merrills look much nicer even though they are a brick with a lens stuck on.

Is their a "best" supplier or best "brand" for generic batteries. I've had very poor performance when I last purchased some a number of years ago. I would like to get a back up for the Fuji.

Tom I have purchased generic batteries for all my cameras and, touch wood, have found them all to be equal or better than the OEM ones. This is the first time I have used Powershop and all the others have been purchased via Amazon.

I would steer clear of Ebay battery providers as there are horror tales, especially with fake OEM batteries.

Makes I have used include EXpro and MaximalPower and they have been excellent in my XT-1 and XE-1.

That's good enough for me Pat; I've just ordered one of your recommendations. Thank you for your help.
