Minninglow A Bronze Age Burial Site Derbyshire

A few from yesterday, and last week. Yesterday the weather was not the best. This is a burial site just off the Tissington trail. The surrounding views are lovely and give a real feel of the Dales landscape. One thing I do love about this area is the sharp contrast you sometimes get if you get the timing right.

Hope you enjoy looking at these, and if your around The Tissington trail then go and have a look at this rather special place. I was on my own late in the afternoon and felt quite strange about it, certainly has some atmoshphere to it.

What a fabulous set Nick. I especially like the latter ones with the site framed by the gateway, sheep trail and the last two. Although I have never been to the site, you seem to have captured something of the feel you refer to and certainly the threatening sky helps. Nice.

Yes Rob its the only tool monochrome for me, it gives me a look similar to my old film days. The X pro files seem to love being converted with Nik. I use Topaz too but not the monochrome, Nik is bang on for me.

Well Pete thanks Im glad you like them. It certainly is worth going to see, and a doddle to get too. I need some snow for my next visit, or maybe a really cold dawn, we will see. At the moment the weather is so poor, very difficult trying to plan any sort of landscape shoot.

Nice set and I really like the first and the last in particular. I do suspect that you need to calibrate your monitor as there are obvious black blobs around the tree in the first. I guess this may be from some heavy burning around the tree?

Not too sure about the monitor bit, as I do large format printing everyday,and the monitor is pretty much bang on, maybe a little artifacting I guess. On the original file I have just run a de noise action on it and it appears ok. Glad you liked them though.

Nick I like the illumination of the wall and tree in the first photo (but there seems to be some kind of shadow effect behind the tree that looks unnatural) and I like the dramatic sky in aoll the images. Really a very nice set.

i noticed the black halo/lines too around the tree in the first. wasn't sure if it was a silhouette of a tree behind it, but it looked odd. great set, i really like the light and shadows on the land in #2.

Thought I would do a re edit on this image, much more even tonal seperation, sometimes I go to dark for my own good lol, thanks for pointing out the problem with it.

I preferred the the Sheeptrail to minninglow out of all the good ones. Kind of leading the eye in a better way than the others.
