Minolta X-9 (35mm) (?)

Hi all;

Just be given a mint condition Minolta X-9 (35mm) with fitted Minolta 28-70mm f/3.5 lens. Anyone know anything about this model, any good as a starter 35mm body..?

Must get a roll of Ilford XP2 soon.

That lens should be useful as it covers most of the useful ranges, looks like its good an auto mode and lots of shutters speeds
