More cacti are starting to bloom and it's amazing to watch. Many only bloom for one day before wilting. Here are a few I've shot in the last couple days:
I do have a few. As I'm shooting in neighbors yards and in town, it's hard to not get a pretty messy background. Here are a few:
I have a friend that paints a lot of my floral shot in water colors. I send her an overview and several close-ups. Many are very impressive when she's finished.
Thanks Dennis (it would be nice to see those watercolours at some point). I like number 3 especially and, you know, it might be interesting to see them also with all the junk around - nature endures and all that. What do you think?
I like the overviews when they occur in a natural setting. As many of the shots were in landscaped areas or residential settings, I'm always very careful of how much I want to post. People are funny. Some think it's a great honor if I shoot that flower or cactus in their front yard and others think it would be stealing something from them.
I'll be doing some hiking soon and see what I can find out in the desert. There are some places that the prickly pear are about ready to bloom in mass.
While shooting some cacti in a neighbor's yard I also shot some of her flowers. Here's a little of what I got as a bonus:
Lovely. Iris and Hemerocallis, some of my favourites. It'll be another couple of months before we see them in Germany and the UK though. I have a friend who documents a garden in Stockholm.
I only skimmed through the blog quickly but what I did see of it I enjoyed looking at. Photographs can be for all sorts of reasons and photographs that teach you something about a place can be the most enjoyable.
