More Mamiya RB67 shots - FP4

These just arrived back from the lab. Glad to see I'm getting better at exposure - though still a long climb towards mastery. All untouched, other than to give them titles. Ilford FP4 120 Medium Format. Developed and pro-scanned by www.wedevelopfilms.co.uk

I really like that first shot of you with your fantastic guitar, the lines of light echoing the strings, and you look like you're enjoying yourself.

Thanks. I set the shot up with Susan holding the guitar, then we swapped places, and she did the clicking.

ah! I was wondering how you'd done it :-)

I agree, that first portrait is superb (well done Susan! ;) ). The second works less well I think, probably due to the low angle of the camera. I like the cold starkness of the next two very much and the near symmetry of the two dogs and their walkers really adds to the shot. The last could do with a bit of a lift I think, but I like the composition.

Thanks, lads. I'll give the last a bit of a tweak, as you suggest, Pete. But, overall I'm really impressed again with the quality of film shots. Wish I could afford to do it all the time.

Cracking set, Rob, although I agree with Pete about the last. The 1st one is superb.

Are you metering or are you guessing at exposure?

Metering with an old Weston..and sometimes guessing. Happy to report that the first two were guess work, erring on the dark side a bit. But all my previous guesswork had been overexposed.

Yeah, Andy's well known - that's a harp guitar he is playing. I'm playing the forerunner of that kind of instrument. Mine is a copy of one dating from 1810. He's a good player.

Guitar 1 and Botanic House are my favorites in their original form, Rob. :)
It's good to see you are working with film.
The link reminds me the costs involved working with labs. :(

I like your portraits best Rob. You do like them dark though don't you? Interesting as most of your portraits and films of yourself do tend to be dark. Obviously you are a dark and brooding individual who just sees entropy where others see creation. Am I close? Of course not but it sounded deep and profound and was all I could think of.

Well, that's allowed :D In fact, I do too. But I like them all for different reasons. Yes, I wish I could develop my own films, but sadly it just makes me ill. So, it is expensive. But I will look upon it as a treat if I've been a good boy...
