More random London street shots

Jim Kuo

The man in the hat
Here are a few shots I took in the past couple of weeks that I like. Hope you will find them interesting.

Queuing in despair for David Hockney's exhibition in Royal Academy of Arts. The queue went around 3/4 of the court yard and ETA to the ticket office from the end of the queue was over 2 hours.

Stranger on the street, in Westminster, London. She was deep in her thought, I don't think she noticed that I took the shot.

Cool hats for St. Patrick's Day celebration.

In trafalgar square.

Ok, this one is not on the street. Research is no walk in the park. I took a sneaky shot while my colleagues were hard at work ;).

Thanks for looking.

These are super Jim, especially the first two - I guess you do not know the lady in the second. I think that Steven Fry might have spotted you in the third - what a nicely surreal theme. As for the white heat of technology in the last - well at least one of them looks half asleep!! Modal or model (or even medical)? And all I can say about the second to last is that a very small nudge could have made it so much more exciting! ;)

Thanks Pete :).

I do not know the lady in the second, I took the shot, and was ready to run away. Then I realise she wasn't bothered or didn't even notice me.

Steven Fry was actually meeting up with those girls. He pointed me out to them and we all exchanged smiles. It was funny and pleasant.

The behaviour of the guy in the background of the last picture is quite common and not unexpected, given our activities involve staring at piece of papers or a computer screen all day long... ;)

I like the Trafalgar Square shot. The main girl's stance is odd. She might need some Alexander Technique before long. Fun shots.

I really like #2 a lot Jim - the fact that she's seemingly oblivious to you - and the way the steps give you that nice perspective in the backdrop

brilliant set JIM keep them coming, i love a bit of street photography. The shot in Trafalgar square is my fav out of the bunch, looks like the lady with sunglasses had spotted you :-)

Thanks Darren. I find it easier to do street photography in a tourists dense area like London, where every second person is holding a camera, so being picked out is less a problem :).

EXACTLY i find that to in major cities :-)

nice set, I'm rather keen on the first one.

Thanks Vic. We joined the exact queue once before a week earlier but given up after half an hour. The picture was taken after our exit to the exhibition on our second attempt (last Friday). The queue grew three times longer than when we entered an hour ago. I meant to capture the frustration and despair of people when they look on from the end of the queue.

I see a business opportunity!

Get there early - get a place in the queue, wait an hour, sell it to someone so they can take your place.

Repeat until you have enough money for a new camera/lens/Lamborghini :D

The ticket is only £14 for adult and £9 for student, it would take many many repetitions to earn enough for an official X100 hood ;).

Well there's the problem - the tickets are too cheap!

No wonder the lines are too long ;)
