My Camera Has Reset Itself...

I know nothing about these things, only that I clocked up the 2,000th image on the Sony while I was in Cornwall last September. I haven't done much since, apart from faffing around with the cats playing and since Christmas I have been scanning my old film.

Imagine my surprise tonight when I did the themed photo shoot to find the images had gone back to 1. I don't really mind because anything I keep is named, but I'm just curious...

Dunno much about Sony but my Nikons reset the numbers after 9999 shots. That's about every 4 months usually.

Oh... and there's me thinking the numbers went on forever. Maybe I got to 2,500 and didn't notice. I've only had the camera for six years...

If it has 4 digits I'd expect it to reset when it needed 5 like mine. Ah well.

I've just looked at what I took tonight and that is DSC00010, so five digits like yours. I Googled the problem as well, but I can't get my head around the answer, so I don't think I'll worry about it

I've hit the 9,999 mark + with my D7000 and it's started all over again.
Can't believe I'd achieve that in this short amount of time I've had it :/ I've had it close to a year now......I think.....

with canon if you used multiple cards and forgot to format a card before shooting it would reset to the number after the last number on the card. at one point on the fujis, not sure if it's still doing it, if you changed shooting modes the file name would change drastically.
