The ubiquitous American strip mall, that's where! This one is on Marine Avenue in Gardena, California. I took this shot with an old Leica rangefinder that belongs to my pal, Jim. He has many great old film cameras but he never shoots with them. He insists I do. I used Legacy Pro 400 film, and I processed the negs in Rodinal.

Brian - swap out the cars and it's pure vintage - very nice! :)

Happy Days Party Supply - always wondered what the Fonz was up to these days.... ;)

What on earth is a pupusas?
What leica was it?
Great shot btw
Makes me think, all these shots in the future will have "vintage cars"
I always try and exclude cars from shots (unless taking a photo of a car) as for the most part they dont fit in photos well for me ... but then, one day, these cars will be of interest to people ... ...

Chris, thanks. Funny that you and Hamish should both comment on the cars. Well, as Hamish has remarked, someday even these cars will be considered vintage.

A "pupusa" my dear Hamish, is a meat-filled pastry from the country of El Salvador.

As to what Leica,...I am afraid I stupidly failed to document that information. It was a 50's era rangefinder, though.

I was trying to figure out what you were there to take this shot Brian. Then I spotted the Liquor sign!! Nice attempt to hide it!! ;)

I like the way all these signs are stacked producing order in what would otherwise be a muddled scene. Very well observed as usual. And, as you and the others say, more interest will be there in the future when the cars become 'classics' so that time will add more layers in.

Pete,...You have divined my true intentions! LOL.

I actually didn't think about how this image might gather interest with time but I see it now. It won't be just the cars, though, as the signs and the businesses they advertise will likely be of some historical interest to someone. (And I'd guess there aren't too many photographers documenting this particular Gardena strip mall.)

Thanks, Pete!
