I took this shot on a cool and blustery day last Winter with a Contax IIIa and Fuji Pro 400 film. That's Newport Beach Pier. Don't know who the people are.
I really like the way the two sets of diagonals converge so you eye is drawn down left by both the pier and the group of people. I think if they weren't there your eye would just be drawn the other way to the end of the pier and the bright patch of sky. But as they are you tend to look at what the people are doing and then are eventually drawn to the birds on the sand. For me this keeps the attention within the picture and makes me look longer. I like it and the subdued colour and tones bring out the blustery feel.
