Thanks a lot, Pete. These cameras are a joy to use when the lens is flipped because the results are so unpredictable. With nothing to lose except a frame I'll often shoot with a "...let's try this and see what happens" approach, and occasionally I get something worth posting. Thanks again, Pete.
Great capture there Brian.
I've got to ask...... What do you mean by flipped lens?? Self explanatory?
I'd love to see a picture if the Oly with it's 'flipped lens'.....
The camera is a Vivitar PN2011. It's a cheap plastic 35mm point and shoot camera from the '90s I'd guess. I took the lens out and flipped it backward. So, whereas you would look at the front of a lens and normally it would be convex to your eye, the lens on my Vivi is concave.
This gives that distortion you see in the image.
I also flipped the lens on one of my Brownie Hawkeye Flash cameras for a similar effect. Here's an example from the Hawkeye. (Sticking with the football theme, these are a few more of the lads on the Honda Soccer Club.)
Pete,...Our game is certainly slow enough--at least when I am on the ball--that pipe smoking would be possible! And as to the baggy shorts, I'm the one that wears them, since I'm the grand daddy of the team--old enough to have sired most of these young fellas--and old enough to have played with footballs that had laces. We wore baggy shorts in them days!
