I actually cropped this image. Had to. Somehow screwed up winding the film onto the processing reel such that one edge of the entire roll was unprocessed. So I cropped the top out of each photo to eliminate the ugly gray mass of nothing. The cropping renders a pano look I think.

Anyway, this is at Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, California on October 7. Took this image with my Canon T-50. (As far as I could tell--and I look for these things--it was the only film camera in use at the track that day--350 photographers, by the track's own estimate, one film camera!) The film was Fuji Neopan 400, which I screwed up the development of in Rodinal.

Thanks a lot, Paul. Funny,...I don't even remember taking this picture so when I saw it after taking the negs out of the developing tank the White Jacket Man appealed to me immediately. Thanks again, Paul!

Very nicely timed Brain. The man certainly makes the image and adds real tension - his stance, line of site etc. And the crop works well. Being wide helps to make him stand out more I think. I find my eye travelling up from the white square to the man in white and then to the guy studying form on the left and then back again. But there is so much more to find from the person taking the picture on the top step ot the two children up on the stand.

Thanks very much, Pete. Funny you should mention the person taking the picture. I was looking at this image the other day and noticed that fellow and thought I must be in his photo too, perhaps with my camera up to my face. Wish I could see it.

White Jacket Man looks like he's about to take some kind of action, doesn't he?

Thanks again, Pete!
