My New Guitar

Well, here's my first video with this guitar. Sorry it's not Smoke On The Water - royalty issues stopped that one...

Very good Rob the sort of skills I could only dream of:eek:.

Seven plucks in all for the D, and none for the C. They didn't use them a huge amount, but they do make their presence felt when called for...

Pleased? Yes, I love it already. I still have to get the right strings for it. These are a mixture of sets. But I know a string maker who is 'looking into it'. We shall see. It has a more piano-like quality than a Spanish guitar, and this is what I am finding a strange experience. All classical guitars these days follow the Spanish tradition in sound and build. But here we have an old Viennese tradition, which died out around the time the great Segovia starting rubbishing anything that wasn't Spanish. The irony was that he was playing a Spanish guitar made by a German. Anyway, here we have a different sound aesthetic for 19th-century music. I like it, and am looking forward to further refining my playing on it.

Glad you like it!

Rob...I tried to send this as a private msg...but your mailbox is full. I hope highjacking your post is ok...

Rob,
I have a friend that worked in Colonial Williamsburg VA USA for many years named George Wilson. He is an amazing craftsman...in both instrument and tool building. Here's one of his guitars being played...a jumbo curly maple guitar he made in the late 80's that showed up on YouTube in 2013.

He's getting old and worn out... but still tries to do some things. Here's an old write up about him. Featured Builder - George Wilson

I hope this didn't bore you...but I thought you would appreciate someone like him.
