NCD - Large Format

Gary, I use a Jobo with lift generally, but I do use a Stearman tank when I am travelling, or only have a couple of sheets to develop. I haven't struck the issue of marks from the film holders in the Stearman - I think it works very efficiently. I always use the Stearman if I want to stand develop film, especially if there is a wide subject brightness range.

I do have a darkroom, but tray developing panchromatic film in the pitch black is not my idea of fun. I do use x-ray film which is not red sensitive, so I tray develop those sheets.

I don't do enough film for me to substantially change how I'm doing film. I will likely move to D-76 with a water stop and separate fix for my next batch of 4 x 5.

Still waiting....

...however, I've purchased a batch of Kodak chemistry. I'm taking a road trip next week and plan to mix up my D76 and Fixer upon my return. Then with better weather here in the Pacific Northwest, I'll load up four sheets and develop four sheets to see if the new chemistry coupled with outdoor exposures in sunlight and my "new" light table yield better results.

Stay tuned

I successfully used D-76 with 35mm and 120mm Tri-X, nearly everyday. D-76 is a solid, dependable developer. (I wouldn't use it for pushed film ... but at Kodak factory recommended ASA ... it's my goto developer.)

Me too... 50 years ago.

When I decided to develop film here last year, the allure of the Df96 monobath was strong. I'm hoping that the D-76 will solve the problem I had using it on the Fomapan. I'm anxious to finally get something out of the Toyo.
