Neighbours

It conjures memories of tenement life in Glasgow: At ground floor level a clutch of mammies or grannies gossiping around a window sill while a riot of scruffy children entertain themselves in various high energy and daredevil ways. Higher up, perhaps 3rd or even 4th floor, a mammy hangs out her window preparing to toss a sandwich, carefully wrapped in newspaper, to her starving offspring waiting below. I wish I had had a camera in those days,...I was a bit young, though.

Close spaced flats, I so remember this. Growing up in such a small community, just like the one depicted in the photograph brings back fond memories. Neighbours were all there one for each other, everyone knew each other's business and such. Perhaps a bit annoying at times, but nonetheless a great way of socializing and learn about people.

Really great shot !!

Thank you Julian. I am glad it gives people good thoughts and it was the charm of the situation that made me take it.
