One of my favorite leisure time photography activities is wandering a city and photographing its neon signs

the first liquor signs and the holiday motel sign are my favorites. love the old neon signs, too many of them are disappearing and being replaced by led sign boards..

Here in Las Vegas new businesses in the downtown district are required to use neon for at least 50% of their signage. This city has very little heritage and preserves even less but there is a huge push here to preserve the vintage neon signs

Nice colors Bobby. One place I have never been to is Las Vegas...but one of the first things I think of is neon signs. Of course...second to Pawn Stars.

You're in a great spot for this being in LV - great set

Isn't there a museum in town with a lot of the old signage in it?

Always wanted to shoot the LV sign - maybe I will one of these days

Pawn Stars Gold and Silver is a phenomenon I will never understand. Hundreds or people line up down the street and stand in line for hours just for the chance to walk in the store and it is a dumpy little place downtown.

Another fan here Bobby. Never been to Vegas but this is how I imagine it should look. :)
These are all from the old part of town. Downtown is undergoing a revitalization at the hands of Zappos but for the moment it still has some of its grit and vintage charm.

The strip is 3 miles up the road and is a completely different world
