Looks like a nice calm day - where were you headed?

I was on Isle of Skye and about 90 degrees from this picture is the magnificent Mealt Falls

You know Davie you say it's maybe a throwaway shot but there is absolutely nothing wrong in liking this or any images like this IMO. To me what is important with this image is not the composition or anything like that at all. Sometimes you have to let all that go and just think about what the image says to you, what meaning do you get from looking at it. To me this photograph is about the rare times I have had time to waste on a pleasant day and have just sat somewhere looking at the sky and sea. I was more than happy to look at it for a minute or two.

Hope that doesn't come across as a bit heavy or anything.

not too heavy at all, every photo i keep means something to me but some go beyond an explanation into the 'feeling' category which I wouldn't even try to explain, for me photography is a release valve and i call my days out with my camera as "attitude re-adjustment " days.

The throwawy nature of the shot is, I would usually take 3 or 4 of each shot with different settings but this was one shot and done

Stunning dude, just stunning!
When I bought my Oly I was never achieving landscapes like these...... But saying that, I live in worcester. :)

I like it Davie. The softness of the tones works well here. It might be interesting to put the horizon in the middle to divide the shot itself into sea and sky. What do you think?

that could definitely work, it was meant to be a similar shot to a japanese guy who's name i can't remember lol
