Odds and Sods, Edinburgh

You have become quite the prolific photog Rob!
I do enjoy seeing such a range of stuff!
I didn't comment on a lot of your thread from the last couple of weeks ... I've been a bit to busy with one thing and another but I can't think of a thread that I didn't find interesting!
Keep it up! :)

Thanks, Hamish, I was wondering if I was putting up too much stuff here.

Pete, not sure what a Routefinder cabriolet is! Sorry.

Your havin me on Rob! :D
When did you seriously pick up a camera and start this photography malarky....... Honestly?!?!

Well, I appreciate your comments, Dan, but I do feel like a beginner. But I'll let you into a secret - I've been looking all my life. All I needed to do was find a camera that could look with me. The X100 is my dream camera. I just point it at things!

There have been a few occasions when I could have done with a zoom or smaller macro, so I'd like the Fuji Finepix XS-1...maybe this time next year.

Rob, there's no such thing as too many pictures! :D

Love the bike shot, especially with the flowers in the basket - did you set that shot up or what! ;)

The bike is on the platform at North Berwick station - a small unmanned station of one track. It, the bike, is chained to the fence, but has not been vandalised, as it surely would be in many other areas of Scotland. The authorities have made a big effort to bring tourists to the town - a 30 minute train ride from Edinburgh - and there are lots of nice touches like this one.

After all the saturated colours of the day, I like this almost desaturated tone, with just a hint of the colours of the flowers in the baskets.

I try to get out and about at weekends. Most of my weekday shots are of my garden...but I'm running out of things to point at there - it's a small garden. I also try to take a 30 minute walk every day for my health, and always take the camera with me. I don't think I would be happy with a dslr and a bagfull of lenses - they would weigh me down and give me too many options!

I forgot to mention, I'm also on holiday this week as my daughter is off school. Yesterday was the first half-decent weather. There is a long tradition in photography of people on British beaches fully clothed from head to toe, in many layers. Quite funny.
