Ok I want to try and take some pictures of my minatures. Im looking for probably a 2 flash set-up but im open to suggestions. I would prefer to use the X-T1 but if i need dig out the D300 i dont have a problem with that.

Now ive never done this before so im only guessing :D

I just use a couple of speed lights with remote wireless triggers and if I'm doing anything bigger I use the Lastolites, some of the small stuff goes in the tent for a soft all round light...I often find that outside in natural light works well too...

I use a couple of Elichrom flash heads either with white umbrellas or bounced off a white ceiling, I need a new soft box ideally. These give a lot of control I have a larger Bowens Monolight and 2 smaller Bowens heads.

At a push I can also use a Metz CT-1 or 402 with a remote trigger.

Indeed you can but I would be inclined to think about space and mobility....Speedlights offer a little more flexibility, but hten I do use mine out of studio...

I use my Elinchrom & Bowens flash units outside a studio and they give me far better control than flash guns/speedlights but of course if outdoors I can use my Metz units.

Yea thats what I meant Ian but I rarely take my Lastos outside, not having a portable power supply....

A cheap lighting solution is the workman type halogen lams, I bought mine a few years ago at about £19 each, two lamps per tripod. Very good for Video work but I have used them for still life work.
