Olympus Lens question ..........

Hi All,

Olympus Lens question ..........?????

I have a Olympus E-510 and I'm looking at dipping my toe into the murky water of manual focus (difficult with having no focus screen in the viewfinder) wih a Zuiiko 50mm 1.8 lens that I have in a cupboard. It's in first class optical and mechanical condition.

Now my question ...... I've also looked at parting with some of my hard earned cash and buying a "Olympus Digital 25mm f/2.8 Prime Lens" .......... Now apart from the obvious advantage of having the autofocus option with it.......... Is it worth shelling out the cash or should I just stick with the old OM 50mm ????

Any suggestions or advice here is most welcome.

Peter

personally i'd stick with the OM, I have a load of manual lenses and only one digital, the only pain in the arse for me is at the moment I only have one adaptor

Thanks Hamish ............ I have an adaptor. But is is a basic one. Is there an advantage in having the "AF confirm" adaptor ?????

the only advantage it would be is if your focusing is a bit ropey, from what I understand it confirm when you are focused ...manual focusing isn't a problem for me so i don;t need one

I guess the answer is to nail the lens on tomorrow and give it a go.............: rolleyes:

Spot on Davie. Good advise given.
I think with a manual focus lens through view finder on an e-series Oly can be difficult at times with a moving subject, such as children, or animals etc. Which maybe an auto confirm adaptor could help out a bit. however , its very rewarding when that sharp focus is acheived in those situations using manual.

I love using the 28mm f/2.8. It gives a better coverage, and all that for a measly 10 pounds of my hard earned cash! Lol

Here an example of the lens used

Personaly, I'd have a snoop around for any OM fit lenses, it's great fun, and very suprising what is available for the Oly, including non zuiko brands like Hoya, Sigma, etc.
I find the digi Zuiko's to be on the uneccassary pricey end in my opinion.
Especially my all time want list of a 7-14mm....
