Looking north toward Long Beach (the thin line of lights along the horizon in the center) and the Palos Verdes Peninsula (the hump just left of center). Actually, it is a trick of geography that we think of Long Beach as being north of HB. In fact, due to curvature of the coastline, LB is west of us, it just seems north. I know this because I have another image of the sun setting directly behind the horizon you see here,...otherwise I might not have believed it myself. (Also, Reno Nevada is said to be actually further "west" than Los Angeles.)
Anyway, took this shot with my Canon T70, a Canon FD 28mm lens and Kodak Ektar 100 film. I steadied the camera on the platform of a lifeguard tower, such as one you see along the beach. (Lifeguardtowerpod.)
