On Huntington Beach at Dusk

Looking north toward Long Beach (the thin line of lights along the horizon in the center) and the Palos Verdes Peninsula (the hump just left of center). Actually, it is a trick of geography that we think of Long Beach as being north of HB. In fact, due to curvature of the coastline, LB is west of us, it just seems north. I know this because I have another image of the sun setting directly behind the horizon you see here,...otherwise I might not have believed it myself. (Also, Reno Nevada is said to be actually further "west" than Los Angeles.)

Anyway, took this shot with my Canon T70, a Canon FD 28mm lens and Kodak Ektar 100 film. I steadied the camera on the platform of a lifeguard tower, such as one you see along the beach. (Lifeguardtowerpod.;))

Love the massing cloud mirroring the shape of he beach, and the distant lights on the peninsula and beach front.

Very atmospheric Brian. I like the strong blue tones achieved. And a fine line of drums, mirroring the angle of the surf.

With all these hand lifeguardtowerpds scattered along the beach I can't understand why Chris drags that weighty tripod around with him all the time!! ;)

Thank you very much, Pete.

I agree with you about Chris. With all the pods available to us all over the landscape I don't see why he'd need to carry one around. It just doesn't make sense! ;)
