Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

I just got back from a couple days out at the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. I know most of you will go, where's that? It's in southern Arizona right along the Mexican Boarder and as it is fairly low elevation, it warm enough for Organ Pipe to grow.

This is the first winter in 4 or 5 years that has gotten near-normal rainfall and this year had a nice wild flower bloom. Of course this is a pretty short lived event, so I was lucky to be there near the peak.

Here are a few shots from the trip:

I'll put up a blog link in a few days and you will be able to see a lot more of this place.

Wow - gorgeous!

Loving #4, standing out against the mountains.

I've been tracking the wild flowers here in CA, but it's been very dry and cold, so not much to show this year.

When I got to #4 I was thinking that's the best. The I saw the last one. I really like the backlit cactus and the glow around some of them caused by the sun on the thorns. Good work Dennis.
