A fresh smattering of the white stuff then!

Well, tempting though it was, finding shoes, going down 7 flights of stairs, across the courtyard, through two sets of double doors into the pouring rain lost out to taking a shot out of the window into Fritz-Zübeil Straße!

It's a shame they allow cars to park in the pavements. Though the parking areas seem to be between the road and the pedestrian walkway. What's the rules?

It depends on the particular street, Rob. As you can see from the sign (and the parked cars), on this street you are supposed to park partly on the verge between the road and the pavement (sidewalk). The soil is very sandy in Brandenburg and so the grass is sparse at best, so doesn't suffer as such. It's a problem everywhere, as the late 19th and early 20th century apartment buildings were not built with cars in mind (new ones have underground parking). The problem is exacerbated when they 'restore' them and stuff apartments into the attics (which has happened opposite). Our buildings are owned by the grandson of the man who built them and we still have attics. And this is in a city with relatively low rates of car ownership - at least compare with the UK.

Too late. It was meant to be last night. Does no one read the rules around here? Sheer anarchy!

Actually, that's a pretty good shot. The hand rail really makes it for me.

Well since it was last night, I am excluded from this fine party then. And on second thought I don't want to go out again in this pouring rain albeit my friend the k30 wants to:D
