Over the hill

Hi Folks,

Well, I guess you,ve heard it all before, my name is Tony, I live in a small Village in the Yorkshire/Lancashire Pennines, recently upgraded to a brand spanking new Nikon D7000 and struggling. ( Should have stuck with the D80 )...Been in and out of photography for a very long time, the first camera was a Brownie Box....boy that makes you think....Photoshop, yep, well, in simple terms, a complete nightmare, hence the reason I tend to go the HDR route with "Photomatix".....Lets give this a go, if anyone out there has a D7000 and keen on Landscape,s..what do you find are the best settings for shooting in Raw....Take care folks, and THANK YOU...

Regards
Tony.

Hi Tony, and welcome. I can assure you, we haven't all heard it before. You'll find a real cross-section on this site, beginners to advanced, and very many helpful souls.

Howdy and welcome Tony.

There are no ideal settings for landscapes - I've shot landscapes with every setting imaginable and at focal lengths from 10 - 500mm :)

Finding something you like and either looking at the exif info if you can or just asking what settings were used for that particular shot, and more importantly, why, is a good starting point.

Thanks Dave, I thought it was me !! I cant get two shots the same at the mo, but still getting used to the Cam...thats my excuse.

Time will tell...

Cheers

Hi Tony, I nearly didnt let you through the gates for your username being outside of the convention...
But by your email I guessed you were a real person.
Im going to change your username to Tony Bevington ... Let me know you have seen this message and ill do it!
once done you will need to log back in ... the pasword will be the same :)

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time and trouble to jot a few words,
I,m never short of a question or two, some of them are just plain daft, ( apologies )Hubberholme.jpg some are
"Serious"...I work mainly in "RAW" then convert to JpEG....some days it all goes well, other days are a total disaster,
chasing that one "Perfect Picture" seems nigh on impossible....
