Industrial decay! What's not to like about these. And the timing and shutter speed on the runner is spot-on. And the back-to-front writing in the window is intriguing too. This camera seems to have a definite 'look' to it - I like it.
It does!
Just like the r-d1 the r-d1s seems to underexpose in these sorts of situations by about 2/3rds of a stop ... the necessary pushing adds to the grain a little which i quite like!
that was my first thought, but i felt they lost a little something ... i think i just like the blue!
Blue and brown always make tone combos i like a lot
You would love this camera Brian... i think it would be the perfect digital camera for you! manual shutter re-cocking just makes it feel like your shooting film, add to that the fact the screen folds away and you can train your self not to look at the shots! ... you just get the photos quicker!
It seems like you have fallen in love with this camera all over again. I think its interesting that the way you interact with a camera can change the way you approach the photography. It seems you have loads of great things to photograph over there in Worchester Mate. There's far to many boring farmers fields over this way.
I was certainly intrigued when you posted about the r-d1 yesterday Hamish. I'd never heard of it before. By the way, I actually have a digital camera. A Canon 7d. Coincidentally I've been thinking lately about posting a digital image to my blog, but I can't seem to make the leap. (Maybe I'll again try tomorrow.)
Nice pictures. I like the blue. Is the "half a door" the full frame that you shot, or is it a cropped fotie?
here you go, screen grabs from the lightroom crop tool
We should do this sort of thing more often ... found it interesting seeing Pete's crop earlier ...
Took some photos at an event a few weeks ago with the 7D. Probably about 250 pictures. That's the most I've used it. I think I may go to Santa Anita Race Track on Friday (horse racing) and if I do I'll take the 7D. They're having a "Photographer's Day" and it looks like it might be fun.
