Perspectives: David Suchet - People I Have Shot
Series 2, Episode 1
David Suchet follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, the famous Fleet Street photographer Jimmy Jarche, in a quest to capture on camera how Britain has changed in the past century. Talented amateur photographer David is sent on assignments across Britain to experience what it is like to be a press photographer. He shoots similar subjects to those his grandfather found, a task that involves tracking down unknown Welsh mining villages and taking pictures of the miners and their families. He experiences what it is like to be a war photographer when he photographs a training exercise with the British Army and feels the pressure of the paparazzi as he takes pictures of David Cameron and the Queen. W2ould have enjoyed it much more had my Digital signal; not been such an arse....it must be nice to get the chance to be exposed to the opportunities that some of these celebs are just because....they are and they can get access to more places than the common man....

Watched it last night, I was really impressed with it, and David was a pretty good photographer himself. Most impressive.

I found it very enjoyable. Yes he got access to places which us mere mortals wouldnt get the chance to go. His grandfather though was only a photographer ok with press credentials (when they meant something) and he got the chance to take them. If he had taken the shot of the then Prince of Wales with Wallace Simpson today he would have been a lot better known than he ever was.
