Photography Courses Advice

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone know of some good photography courses that are available?

I am looking at improving my technique and know how, and also I am looking for something that will encourage me to go out and take some photo's, work on projects etc.

Any recommendations?

What are you thinking mate? some sort of evening class?

To be honest, i dont actually know, the tech college in worcester used to do short courses ... but i guess thats no use to you!

What exactly are you hoping to get out of a course, that you might not be able to get from people here?

Some sort of direction to learning?

We have "themes" here ... the idea being, we set a theme and you go and take a photo to fit in the theme
we just get a bit slack doing them ... ill kick start them again if you think it will help you?

An old friend of mine runs online photo courses. He used to be a teacher and one of the subjects he taught was A-Level photography. He now does some relief teaching but makes his living mainly as a wedding and social photographer. It might be worth exploring as it offers quite a flexible route.

Hamish- Basically I am looking for something to inspire me to go out and take photos with a particular theme, style or technique. I'm just trying to stop myself from stagnating, shooting the same old thing over and over. Don't get me wrong the forum is great for learning techniques and feedback on photos. I'm basically looking for some little projects to keep me active. I think the themes idea is a good one, it'll give me something to do, just wasn't aware that it was there. So basically I am looking for something similar to the Gizmodo shooting challenge. (And if there were to be one on a certain technique then a little guide on how to achieve it would be good).

Aren't we all mate...
Hopfully some of the themes should give you a bit of direction once in a while

We did have a few themes that were based on techniques ... all have a think on some more for you
