Photography in the rain

I'm thinking of taking a trip into the Highlands on maybe Saturday and the forecast is for rain.

The question is, would it be worth it or can shots in the rain be good enough from a portfolio point of view ? I'm probably not explaining it very well

What is wrong with shooting in the rain, personally I would, if it's port stuff, does it not show versatility, capability and probably artistic merit that you do not need the 'perfect' day, remember Davie it's all about using the available light to your advantage. Just keep covered up, your kit not you you should be more than used to the wet stuff already.. :p

oh I am Kev, I almost have webbed feet lol

Some very nice shots can be had in the rain, it can add an extra dynamic to the image. People tend to behave differently in the rain as well and that can be interesting to. Just find some way to protect your camera gear from the weather. If you dont have a rain cover I'm sure you can make something from a plastic bag!

Cheers guys, I was a little downhearted at the thought of a wasted day but you've given me hope :)

Just keep the gear dry!

I think that shooting when others are indoors in the dry is a great idea - bound to provide a different perspective.

I stayed out during heavy rain at Brands Hatch one practice session - and managed to get some nice rain shots - I think it provided a nice alternative way to indicate motion in the image:
