Critique Welcomed Poor light today, but caught a couple

You're not like me then Rob - I hate the sun if I'm going out with the camera. I absolutely love the first and third. The first one has amazing subtle light on the cobble stones. The wide view of the third one really works well. I love the amount of blur on both and the addition of the small figure by the sea is the icing on the cake :)

Thanks, Lesley. The blur in the third was actually a little boy on a bike - you would never guess. I'm experimenting with blurring motion for the Open Uni course. The first and third he will serve for my two uploads this week.

I like #1 very much. Lesley's point of view is one I share. To me a cloudy or rainy day is a dream for photography. Sunny doesn't interest me much.

I do know what you mean, and generally I agree. But there was something about the light today which was not encouraging. Bloody freezing too! I don't mind this weather in November to February, not mid May...

Perhaps we can be comforted, Rob, by Scotland returning to a more normal climate ("Bloody freezing") at a time of year when the rest of the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing thaw or warmth. It suggests the whole "global warming" thing is a croc! ;)

That first one is really nice Rob - good movement shot for the course?

I reckon you could do a 16:9 crop of #2 - loose most of the foreground beach - what do you think?

I have come to appreciate cloudy days - I saw a gallery of shots once, taken by a local photographer during foggy days - inspirational stuff

Thanks, Chris. Yes, the movement shot is for the course.

Oh, it wasn't such a bad day. I was just grumpy after being frozen to the core. Today is a very different day.
