Portobello Road

Jim Kuo

The man in the hat
I went to Portobello Road with our photography society yesterday, and took a few snaps that I find interesting. I hope you will find them amusing, too.

#1, busted!

#2, OMG, is that a horse?

#5, the store lady didn't like her picture taken...

#6, the photowalk had a theme called "time", where members were encouraged to submit "time" related pictures. I was having a laugh by abuse of my understanding of the topic, and took a picture of my watch in the market :D

Jim, I like them all!
But the first two and the fifth are the best!
Probably, IMO, one of the best examples of documentary street photography we have had on here!
What's the woman shouting?
Makes me wish I lived in a slightly more interesting city!
I must go up Birmingham with the x100 and see what I can get!
One of these is going in the next header of that's ok?

Thanks Hamish and Paul.

She shuted "no pictures!" loudly but politely (not swearing).

It wasn't the only instance when we were objected, which I thought was pretty weird in a touristy market like Portobello Road market. Tourists take pictures right? I would have thought those store owner should be used to it by now and welcome the free advertising?

It turned out pictures with some unintended interactions were the best. But the experience was somewhat daunting ;)

RE: header, yes please :D

Awesome! That makes it even better for me!!
That sort of interaction does work for me!
Does it make you feel more comfortable taking photos when your in a group of people taking photos?

Awesome, as we say around here

Love the 'Porsche Parking Only' sign on the old-signs stand - classic London!

Thanks Alastair. I was walking with a group, and every other tourist in the area also had a camera helped :)
