A Cycladic man playing the harp (preliterate). Once again, art of a man playing a musical instrument all created before the written word. Somehow it makes me feel very humble.

A preliterate age Cycladic sculpture, approx. B.C. 2600. ... An abstract face sculpted by a people that lived before the invention of writing ... Just staggers the imagination.

How will we be remembered ...

These ancient portraits are always interesting, more than any other archaeological find they bring you face to face with the past and make you meditate. The harp player is fascinating.
