In that face you can read a layering of feelings that range from experience to muscular strength, from a delicacy towards the material being shaped to a sense of confident pride in one’s craft. And tension, concentration. And all that while he probably was talking to you.
I really like the blur, the natural colours, the balanced tonal range of light and shade (light coming from the left, light coming from the right side), and the framing, which clearly focuses on the main subject while situating him in a context that enriches the meaning of the scene. The motion blur is exactly where it needs to be (without overdoing it), and what needs to be in focus is perfectly sharp.
A side note: in my youth, for a short while, I too did the very job of the person shown in the photo. It was difficult and hard, but fascinating in some way. But I certainly didn't have the strength needed to shape a piece of this size.
