Wooden power pole in the middle of an apple orchard - all of a sudden I notice it has 'dog tags'

Sun baked by the looks. I find this a very interesting photograph.Wondering if there are Pole dog tag spotters as there are train spotters? More than likely.

each pole should have an identifier for the pole and for each utility on it. calling the utility company with an address or intersection is almost worthless, but they know exactly where the pole is if you give them the pole number. in delaware each traffic signal, streetlight and traffic camera have a similar identifier and the i-beam signs (large highway signs on a steele i-beam) and overhead signs have identifiers as well. and electric company boxes that provide electric service to roadside devices are labeled too. there are poles with as many as 12 different numbers on them.

Chris,
How many different power pole label photos are in your collection?

Pole spotters, who knew! :D

Thanks everyone - no more pole pics in my collection, but the websites I discovered, plus Beth's info, leads me to believe that there is a potential 'hobby' out there!
