PP

While sitting in the pub yesterday Davie and I had a wee conversation about PP. I know my images could probably benefit from some more PP than I give them and this is probably due to not experimenting enough with PP software. At the moment I have access to CS5/Aperture 3

Why post in here? Well just to see what you guys would do with an image and see what I can take out of it to move my photography on to the next level if possible

PP process carried out -
Shadows +15
Vibrance +75
Contrast +25
B&W with a slight yellow tint

Wow i like this game, that link to original file is a .png file, i would have thought it would have been jpeg straight out of the camera.

My Lightroom is not recognising that file :(

The thing about PP is that often relatively simple changes can have a huge impact. You can, however, go all the way from the sublime to the ridiculous to the surreal and the point at which you stop is down to personal preference.

Here are some variations using the Topaz B&W filter

Dark and moody...

Toned just for effect, to see what it would look like,

fairly standard B&W

Personally, I like the last version, but wouldn't claim it to be any better than your efforts.
(BTW if you're interested in what the surreal can look like let me know...)

Allan - very dramatic, loving the drama in the waves and the detail in the tree.

Here's my effort - using Topaz B&W and PS

Thank you all for yer input. I know in the end its all a personal taste thing but its good to see what others would do and has given me a few ideas as to how much PP can actually change things without going to garish.

Out of them all I think I like Daz's b&w one and im drawn to Adrian's blue version for some reason :D

Daz oot the camera was a raw but of coarse ye canna upload them :(
