Raceday at Rushmoor Arena .............

Hi All,

I went to Rushmoor Arena today. Stock Car & Banger Raceday. First time I've been there and my first crack at motorsport. I need the proctice for MOTO GP in June at Silverstone. It's quite difficult. Not only are the buggers going fast, but then I suppose the have to....... But there's a damn great fence in the way. Anyway, I ended up with over 450 shots, I trimmed that down to just over 350 I'm reasonably happy with (I'll do some more editing later) .......... and here's a few of my favourites.

fencing is often an issue when you're on the spectator side.

Couple of things you can try:

1) Get right up close, take off the lens hood - and rest the lens on the fence and shoot through it from there - the DOF should mean the fence will vanish

2) Someone once told me that spraying an area of the fence with matt black paint, and then trying technique #1 get's you even better results - clearly I've never tried this, and couldn't possibly say that it's brilliant at helping fencing vanish...

Nice set Pete. I try to get along to cowdenbeath to the banger racing when I can and yes the damn safety fence is a pain. there a couple places where you can avoid the fence but the compramise is you need get the big lens on

I'm planning to get myself over there again this coming Sunday and spend a while longer there ............. I have a 300mm F4.5 OM M/F lens I might try out on my Olympus.
