Rain, and then ice...

Compared to most of Ontario we don't usually get very much snow. Something to do with the Lake. I don't really understand it because i missed school that day.

We had a fair bit of snow a few days back though, and then some very low temperatures. I wandered over to our local pond.

Oh, as always, comments and suggestions on how you might make the photographs more to your taste are always welcome.

Thank you for looking, and for your comments.

I don't do a lot of snow shots, but could not resist with the amount clinging to the trees. The colour was a bit tricky. It's easy as you know to play around with WB and the temperature etc., but it really was a cold, grey day. I kept thinking of steel, or warships. That is how it felt, if that makes any sense.

From what you have commented it sounds like you have achieved what ou intended ...
I might go a little lighter, with a little more contrast ... But I'm not sure that would be any more 'right'

Thanks Hamish.
I'll confess these ones taxed me a bit in post, in terms of getting a good feel. You know how it is, my eyes started to glaze over...
So I appreciate ideas.

I played around some more, as per your suggestions. It's all fun. The changes are subtle: too much of anything and this becomes a set from a really bad movie. I like it in BW too, but I need the colour because it was a series of blues and greys that I rarely see in these parts.

The bridge frame is lovely, Stephen. The snowy path to "the other side" covered with the trees and their branches gives a feeling of hope in a winter day. Watch your step is definitely a necessary sign, though hard to determine where!. :)

Thank you!
The toughest, and funniest, thing was getting some footing for my tripod.
