Dave a great photograph subject wise , with beautiful tonal qualities. A seriously high quality image of which I would have loved to have produced. Good inspiration for anyone to learn from.

My brain says that the framing is a little bit too tight. If you've cropped it I would leave more space above and behind him..

Maybe I'm wrong but I'd like to see it!

I agree - but above him and to the right were lots of distracting clutter.

I really like the tight crop! The man the news paper & the coffee cup tells the storey for me! Very nice!

Always liked that image of yours to, Rob.

I worked for caffe Nero for 2 weeks ... Hated it!
They all thought I was a bit odd I think as I refused to do the "6 s's" to good service" load of **** it was ...
I don't even like the coffee ...
They do the cafe's out nicely though

I agree on the tight crop, but the framing does work!
Toning is nice too

Say Hello/Smile and Say Hello
Serve
Sell (up sell a muffin basically)
Stamp and Take the Money (they have loyalty stamps)
Sugar (point them toward the place to get sugar etc)
Say Thank You

The problem is, sometimes (most of the time) you can't do those things
Eg someone comes in, walks up to the counter and says hi, I'd like a double shot large Americano with a shot of almond syrup, a panini and a muffin. Then goes and gets te sugar whilst you at making the coffee

This of course buggers the list of stuff you have to do ...

I never liked working for anyone ... I hate being told what to do, especially by people who think that some sort of forced approach to politeness is going to be better than me just treating the customers in my normal freindly manner!
... So yeah, I quit pretty sharpish and get a job working for an independant camera shop where there were no such stupid rules ... Well apart from the whole not letting me turn up to work when I liked and dressing how I liked stuff but that's fair doo's I suppose!

And now I run my own company and for the last few weeks turning up when I want has meant 7-8 am and wearing whatever is clean and to hand ...

The moral of the story, if you really don't want to have to work hard ... Get a job working or caffe Nero as a barista ... It might get a bit sweaty but at least you get other people to think for you!
