Critique Welcomed Reality becomes abstraction?

This very old pier post has been teasing me for years now...the colors are almost florescent when the light is just right and it's low tide. I finally got close...but it presents as a near abstraction...right?

Yes I think I would agree, Glenn. The top and sides of it are interesting but so too is the portion that seems to be at the water line. It looks like its floating there.

Is this a digital thing where the separation becomes so apparent, or a depth of field at certain depth, given a subject that is affected I see it from time to time?.
