Reflections on a Chalk Stream

Another shot from the bridge.

Sony RX100. PP in LR and Nik ColorFX 4.

Mr Pete Askew Master Monet, love it, seriously good it is all balanced, yet it has two distinct halves and the right hand side is magical.

The main problem is seeing what's in focus without reading glasses! I can do the composing bit but for some reason I find the Sony screen very hard to judge overall focus with (beyond the green confirmation rectangle). I have much less trouble with the Ricoh - I have no idea why though.

Thanks Rob. As Hamish says, the ripples added essential texture to the reflective areas I think.

Now you've gone and done it! I feel I have to choose and I love them both for very different reasons. This right hand side is truly magical with the green following the reflection of the tree and looking for all the world as though they are together in real life and not just in this photograph. The whole is balanced by the quieter left hand side, but some lovely ripples going on nevertheless :)

I saw this and thought of Monet too. The ripples and the almost painterly daubs of green are lovely. Is it me or does the Sony have an odd aspect ratio? The long edge seems a little longer. It may just be that on the Sony the image fills the whole screen where on my Nikon SLR the screen has a different aspect ratio but the bottom section doesn't display the image.

Wonderful. Reminds me of cracked glass. I think this is one of your best for sure.

Monet for me too - lovely abstract effect, but detail which holds the attention as you look further

Hi Pete for a quick focus use 'tracking focus' press the centre button put the square on the focus point press it again and presto even if you move the camera it will stay focused on the required point.

I find it hard to focus using the little screens also, Pete. (I find it hard to focus through the lens as well.)

Lovely image. It's another one that I think,..."I'd never have thought of taking that picture but wish I had."
