Critique Welcomed Right in ya grill.

Thanks rob. A part of my 'Askew' influence with the PP.
I used my home made flash diffuser I made out of a lamp shade and took these shots with a 28mm f/2.8 (@f/4) OM lens at 0.3 meters (in ya face distance) lol. And the diffuser was a fingers length from their forehead to give it that down light effect I was after.
They soon got annoyed with it :) :)

Not much to critique here Dan - but I will anyway!! ;)

First one is pretty well spot on I would say. Placement, tones etc great. All it needs is a fine hairline frame in a dark tone selected from the image and it is complete I think. The second doesn't work as well I think. If the eyes were straight it would be better but I'm finding it hard to find the focal point in the image and my eyes are just wandering around it.

Thanks Brodie,

Pete, I see exactly what you mean.
She had something in her hands and looking at it which is not visable, hence the almost crossed eye look.
But I cannot fault that critique at all.
I was going to start a new thread for this shot, but seeing as we're on the same subject.
What do you think about this one instead?

Well apart from the hatred I have for you right now, the first two I like a lot. Only critique I would say and at a push I would of popped the eyes a touch and dodged them a bit, that's my pref though. Third one is slightly lost for me with the eye just out of the frame.

That second picture looks incrediably doll like...

In fact, you could try cropping even more tightly, (lose the hair, basically), and then applying a filter to really soften the skin tones.
Yes, its artificial but the effect is worth checking out...

brilliant set DD, i love the first 2 the angles, detail and up close is really dam good and still loving the PP what ever you have done.....lol........!! if i tried something similar i would be well chuffed with these.

that last one you posted, the left eye is the bit i dont like. 2 eyes are great, 1 eye is great, 1 eye in 1 eye out of focus is great, but the half an eye, i dont think works.

It's odd as I am not sure about the 1st and 3rd but really like the 2nd. It is a much more challenging image and therefore more interesting to me. It also has something that I have a particular interest in at the moment. There's a strange mix of sentimentality and being sinister.

I think because of the close proximity, you could read #2 and #3 as sinister in some way - Midwich Cuckoos kind of sinister.

However - you can also look at all three as intimate family shots - with the young age of the subjects and the close proximity really enhancing the eye size, and hence the impact (I use this myself when I shoot my grandkids)

The detail in the eye in #3 is just stunning - and worth a shot of it's own at some point

Thanks ever so much guys and gals.
There's a whole bunch mixed yet very good critique, advice and apreciation to take on ship there from all.

My word these are well done . The second ( or lower ) of the first two
is absolutely riveting ! Only sugestion for it is to hang it somewhere
prominent. The last one doesn't work for me anywhere near as well.
