Im just posting because im pretty chuffed with my self!

The Ifbaflex m102 is a variant of the Voigtlander VSL1/Rollei sl35
the VSL1 was made in germany to start with but production shifted to Singapore after the first 500
All of the ifbaflex m102's were made in germany ... and when i say all of them, according to my internet mooching there were only 1000 made
The standard lens is also supposedly a rebadged(?) Carl Zeiss Ultron 50mm 1.8(?)

To be honest, I'm not sure its worth more than what I have paid for it in (obviously really... ... ...)
Anyway, I'm just happy to have a more rare version of a camera that I had wanted anyway!

My thinking exactly Brian!
I have a helios 135 2.8 knocking about somewhere... Not to mention some russian thin I bought off eBay under the impression it was LTM ... Loads of fun!
I've wanted an m42 camera for ages ... Mainly for the fact that you can usually find lenses in bargain bins really ;)
This is about as good a find as was possible for me ... I wanted a voigtlander vsl quite a bit after I discovered there existence not so long ago ... This is like one better .. Same camera, but rare as hens teeth! I bloody hope it works!

A Helios 135 2.8? I bet that's good. I have a couple of M42 mount cameras. One's a Mamiya-Sekor 500 DTL. I got it new in '68 or '69. I coveted an SLR when I was a kid and that was my first. Good glass. The other's a Zenit 12 XP that I got in UK off E-bay. It came with a Helios 44. Great glass, in my opinion! However, I've never really exploited the availability of all the M42 lenses available. I should!

Hmm now I come to look it up on google 135 2.8 might be wrong ... In fact in the light of mornin I think it was actually a 85mm ... But I can't even find that on google so I might be going nuts... I can't find it either, which is slightly annoying, as I'm wondering if I might have sold it in a clear out...
Ah well ...
So what's the general concencus on Helios lenses then? Any good?

The other lens I have somewhere - although I cant find it either - is an industar 50-2 I think

I'm not entirely positive but I think the general consensus is that the Helios lenses are good. I certainly like mine. The 44 is a 58mm so I think it would fall into the portrait focal length category. It provides crisp images and wonderful "bokeh." In general I think the Russian glass is often quite well-received.

I may have that same Industar 50mm f2 on my Kiev 4A. I think it's called an Industar 8. Another good lens in my opinion.

Well the camera arrived today and it has a dicky shutter unfortunately ... going to contact the chap and see what he has to say on the matter

I'm confused Brian, did you somehow email a response to this??
I'm not sure I understand what's happened
Anyway, in response to your comment
Yes, it's pretty disappointing, but it's not ceased, it's winding on properly... Just the shutter **** mech often misses somehow
I think it must be worn and slipping somehow
Anyway, the chap seems to be offering to help pay for repairs

Yeah I did send a response. I think I said something to the effect that the shutters can sometimes free up through use, since often they've been languishing un-exercised for years or decades. Maybe just a CLA is all it needs. Perhaps the seller would be willing to cover the charges?

CLA?
Im going to send it and a bunch of other broken cameras for quotes for repair...
I have a couple of nikons (about 8...) that are in need of some work ... ...

Yes, Hamish, CLA. Clean, Lubricate, Adjust. Fairly common terminology among camera collectors snd enthusiasts here in the states; perhaps not in UK, though. Sorry about that.
