Rolleiflex 2,8 FX

I have often been tempted by this classic camera and I have known of the specific example shown below for some time. A while back I asked Paul at Commercial Cameras to keep an eye out for a nice 2.8F. A few came up and some were very nice. The price was always high and all really needed servicing. He then said that there might be 2.8FX for sale. He had sold it new to someone some years ago and knew it had only had one roll of film put through it. I was interested but wavered (after all what did I need another camera for?!). Anyway, a year later and the camera was up for sale through Paul and I weakened!

As you may know, the 2.8FX was the final iteration of this classic camera. It is basically the same as the original F except that the lens has modern coatings and it has an electronic meter built in. The camera is in pristine condition and that first roll of film was still in it (I'll finish it at the weekend and see what it was)! Also with the camera was a set of B&W filters and a hood (and strap - in the box).

This shows the camera with the focusing hood folded and the lens cap on along with the box, manual, filters (all in pouches apart from a warm-up filter) and lens shade.

This is the camera with the focusing hood open, the lens hood on and the wind-on, re-cocking crank open. Either side of the lens can be seen the wheels for adjusting the aperture and shutter speed. The shutter release is fitted with a soft-release button (which can be removed to enable a cable release to be fitted).

This view shows the focusing knob, hot-shoe, film take-up and feed spindles and PC socket (there is a film speed dial towards the back above the hot-shoe to tell the meter what sensitivity to use).

Most accessories made for the Rolleiflex can be used on the 2.8FX except for the focusing screens as these are slightly smaller than the older models (but brighter). Hopefully I'll get a chance to run some film through it over the next few weeks.

Mmmmmm lovely :)

Nice Pete!
Certainly looking forward to the results.

Actually the roll was loaded but unexposed. It is 400 ISO but I don't know if it is colour of B&W. Yet!
Can't you just look at the screen on the back after you've taken a shot? ;)
