Rovinj Street Scenes

Wanting to take some photographs on holiday but not wanting just snap shots of old streets and buildings I thought I would have a go at something between holiday snaps and street photography. I spent quite a bit of time wondering around night and day waiting about for the right moments. I had to really push it with the ISO on some of these but did managed to get some decent results. The P7000 is pretty much unusable over 1600 ISO and pretty bad then.

I like #3 a lot, the old cobble street, the over head cables plus the peculiar looking boy make this an interesting scene to me. I kept on going back to this pic trying to figure out what game he was playing. :)

I also constantly shoot at ISO 1600-3200 to get enough shutter speed.

So much atmosphere, and the light when there's no direct sunlight is wonderful.

Local Boy and Local Street Scene are my two faves, although tourists is also excellent, and I love the light reflecting off of the cobbles in coffee break and street cat.

Agre with Jim - I have Auto ISO set to 3200 in order to keep things flexible when shooting

Thank you for the comments, it's always nice:).

These were taken with the P7000 with a relatively small sensor. Auto ISO 1600 - 3200 would just be a disaster. I did managed to squeeze an high ISO photo out of it but its one of those where the heavy grain could be described as a "feature" of the image. I'm looking to get something new with a larger sensor and faster interface at some point but still looking.

Even more great shots!
Really good!
That first one has a hint of "don't look now" too ... Especially with the red and the sence of fleeting glance as the person disappears round a corner!

Very nice series there Paul. I really like the first shot with the lad just running out of frame and the one with the cat. I also really like the sheen on the cobbles in 'Coffee Break' and there is a really laid-back feel to the shot.

'Don't Look Now' . I'll be in Venice next month and Ina does have a red coat!! :)
