The city's main sight is the impressive fortress

The mountain that the von Trapp's climbed to escape. If then had indeed cross this mountain, they would have ended up in Germany, not Switzerland. In reality, they took a train to Italy, then to London (by ship), and finally to the US. My wife and I took the cable car to the top.

Gorgeous set, John. The first is superb I think. I have been to Austria many times, but never Salzburg. I should rectify that.

I have to concur with Pete this time. I also have visited Austria quite a few times, but never Salzburg and it's a shame really. Very good series and I think every one of them speaks for themselves. Very well done and entertaining.

Very nice John, such a beautiful place Austria. We want to live there, we spent a week in Ramsau/Dachstein a few years ago whilst on a motorcycle holiday, a mind blowing place, such beauty.

Anyone want to buy a lovely semi-detached house in Central Scotland to help fund our move.....haha.

Thank you everyone for the comments. Salzburg is a place where there is a photo-op almost everywhere. My wife and I enjoyed Salzburg more than Vienna.
