scanner recommendations

Don't discount using a DSLR to digitise slides etc, you can get specific slide copying adapters which attach to the filter rings, also if shot in RAW you might have other options when doing any tweeks in post, just a thought :)
 
I'm with the crowd advocating the slide copy attachment for your DSLR. At the price point you have for a scanner, they are mostly junk. I have a Minolta Dual Scan and would say that is is (just barely) adequate for negatives and not very good for slides at all. Indeed, if you have a copy stand, macro lens and a lightbox, you can use that as well.
 
My V600 is good for scanning but it wasn't the cheapest, plus if you buy a cheap flatbed photo scanner like the V300 then you get reliability issues.
