Thanks Beth. yes the last is ok. I have another dangley one which I initially preferred, but this one ended up being the one.cool series, i really like the last one. it's just hanging there. the first one is pretty sweet too, but that last one is my favorite.
Very familiar views - a regular hols spot for us. Nicely done.
Good spot to holiday Dave and many thanks.
Thanks Pete.Another fine set Julian but I miss you signature style / PP. Not a criticism , just a comment as they are super shots.
Dave , yes very easy access to all of the peninsula, from St.Ives across to the Lizard from where you stay. It is full of character. We always stay in St Ives but Sennen is a regular stop off on days out from there.
Thanks Pete.
Pete not sure what you mean by signature style? When I parked up, first thoughts were, this is for me. Again Thanks.
Brian Thanks. yes I was aware of the blown sky in the second. yet looking at it the abstract nature of that area of the image, the geometric nature of the elements, the roof, the oblong space between and where the ropes and buoys hang, the lower wall, in this case I thought at the time it may work ok. The wall was in shade so also needed to bump +0.7 exposure. Still finding out how well the camera deals with, pushing darks up and blown recovery. Not certain yet, the Sony sensors I have in other cameras do fairly well. So over cautious at the moment with the new camera.Nice set, Julian. First and last for me, too, although there is something very nice about the second one--I think its the pure white sky. That blown highlight look isn't everyone's cup of tea but there are times when I like that, such as here.
Ah, ok I wondered if it may be subject based. Well maybe this is not so but something that I've thought about. As you know most off the shelf monitors are far bright. I tried to compensate as the monitor did not respond to calibration. I always new the images viewed in the Apple shop were a bit different to how I saw them at home ( when I passed by I'd check if others could at least see the images something like I did) I have a new Eizo which is lovely to use, but is calibrated. I still am tending to lighten the images as if on the other screen. It may well explain the outcome, I don't know. I must check it out again.I was referring to the slight;y darker and more intense PP you often use for these type of subjects. In any case, I still like these very much.
Thanks Paul, it is also a different camera for me which means I am still trying to find my way.Fine set Julian, really nice. The colours are quite different from the deeper tones Pete refers to but the colour in these do seem quite fitting for the place, I can almost smell the sea just looking at them.
Thank you Chris.Love the framing of that last shot between the ropes and the wall - and the oblique angle of the distant boat ramp and boat - really nicely done
Thanks Glenn. yes I could have spent a whole day there, but felt a bit rushed as I'd stopped there only on route to somewhere else. May go back before the winters over.Wonderful series...wonderful subjects Julian. My kind of place to hang out.
