It is fairly straight-forward Darren but just be prepared for it to take more than one go and to need several swabs. Don't be tempted to make a second pass with a swab - you'll only need to redo it with a new one. I have tried quite a few different ones and the best have been from Visible Dust (Sensor cleaning system for digital camera.).

Good luck Darren! I don't know if it's relevant but I remember in science lessons when we wanted to stop potential dust contamination we wiped the work area down and worked under a bunsun flame. Obviously a hot light bulb might be a better idea in your case.

another vote for visible dust ... their swabs are significantly superior to any other i have found

Ok i have just cleaned the sensor, and WOW what an amazing difference............!!!

I took few shots of blue skies & white skies of F22 before and they where very dusty, now after the clean i took some more at F22 and no signs at all of dust bunnies,I used 3 swabs which work out at £1.50 in total

1 question though, Looking through the view finder i can stills see tiny darker spots, these are not appearing on the pictures so where could these be, they appear using various lens's

But don't try to clean it Darren. It is silvered on the surface and cannot be cleaned. You'll scratch it. It might also be on the focusing screen which, may be removable on your camera. You'd need to check. That can be cleaned if so.

yes, definitely stay away from the mirror as it is finished with some sort of etching or a texture thus renders is unswabable, I like to use compressed air (very lightly) against the mirror before I clean the sensor since the mirror does not like being swabbed.
