I had a few hours out yesterday looking for Owls.

Also first attempts at processing with lightroom, which I found bloody confusing!!!:p...:D.

Careful with the "Clarity" slider on the second shot (generally the fastest way to make that kind of haloing artifact). Love the moments you captured :)

stunning set of owls Glen i have never seen a wild owl in flight like this, awesome birds aint they.

You have done well to get these great shots.

I think you have done a great job in LR ( ;) )

That first one is a real gem I think
It's the backlighting to the wing is wonderful And the highlights on te grass really work I think!
That's a great shot I think!

Well I've only had it for a week or so, so I think it's a case of getting used to it.

But I do have a couple of questions...
When I did my processing with Camera Raw I could look at the file while they were on the memory card and process the ones I liked from there. In LR it seems I have to transfer all the contents of the card into a folder on my computer (Import), is that right or is there a way to process the ones I want to do from the card?

and when I export(?) to photoshop for a bit play it opens as a TIFF then I have to change it to an 8-bit image to save as j-peg does it always do that?

It took me ages to learn the few basic steps I used to do and looks like it will take me ages to re-learn them again in LR (mainly cos I'm a thicky:p:o)

you can import from the card, just select the photos the way we said in the other thread... Ie untick the box top left above the photos and just select the ones you want to
When doing this it will copy those photos to your computer into your chosen folder

Yes, you cant save jpegs in 16bit

Cheers Hamish.
